How Long Does Ceramic Coating Really Last? A Cocoa, FL Guide

If you've been researching paint protection for your vehicle, you've probably run into a wide range of claims about how long ceramic coating actually lasts. As an XPEL Authorized Installer, we can give you real, specific numbers instead of vague estimates — based on XPEL's actual FUSION PLUS product line.

XPEL's Ceramic Coating Warranty Tiers

XPEL's FUSION PLUS ceramic coatings come in three main tiers, each backed by a transferable manufacturer warranty:

  • FUSION PLUS LITE: 1-year warranty — an entry-level option offering real hydrophobic protection without the higher price tag
  • FUSION PLUS (Classic): 4-year warranty — XPEL's most popular coating, balancing durability and value
  • FUSION PLUS PREMIUM: 8-year warranty — the flagship option, built for maximum long-term durability and resistance

All three bond at the molecular level to your vehicle's paint, are professionally applied, and are backed directly by XPEL when installed by an authorized dealer like Subject 9 Customs.

What the Coating Actually Does

  • Hydrophobic protection: Water, dirt, and grime bead up and slide off instead of sticking
  • UV and oxidation resistance: Helps prevent Florida sun damage and paint fading over time
  • Chemical and stain resistance: Protects against contaminants, tree sap, and bird droppings that can etch untreated paint
  • Enhanced gloss and clarity: Adds depth and shine on top of the protective layer

One Honest Limitation

Ceramic coating is not the same as paint protection film (PPF). XPEL's ceramic coatings do not protect against rock chips or physical impacts — they're a chemical/UV/contaminant shield, not an impact barrier. If rock chip protection is your priority, that's a PPF conversation, not a ceramic coating one — feel free to ask us about both when you come in.

What Actually Shortens a Coating's Lifespan

  • Improper wash technique: Automatic car washes with abrasive brushes wear down a coating faster than hand washing.
  • Skipping paint correction before application: A coating applied over swirl marks and contamination won't bond as evenly — this is why every coating package at our shop includes a one-stage correction first.
  • Extreme sun exposure without maintenance: Florida's UV intensity is real. Regular rinsing and occasional maintenance washing helps the coating perform for its full warranty period.

Which Tier Is Right for You?

For most daily drivers, our most popular option is the standard FUSION PLUS coating with its 4-year warranty — a strong balance of protection and value. If you're keeping the vehicle long-term or want maximum durability, FUSION PLUS PREMIUM's 8-year warranty is worth the upgrade.

  • 1-Year Package ($499): Paint protection with XPEL FUSION PLUS LITE — a solid, budget-friendly introduction to ceramic coating
  • 4-Year Package ($999): Paint protection with XPEL FUSION PLUS — our most popular option, balancing durability and value
  • 8-Year Package ($1,999): Full-vehicle protection with XPEL FUSION PLUS PREMIUM, covering paint, glass, trim, and wheels for maximum long-term coverage

Want glass, trim, or wheel coating added to a 1-Year or 4-Year package? That's available too — just ask when you book.
